NES

Before we get started, I would like to point out that there already is a bootleg portable famicon, called the Game Axe (pictured on the left, under Alternatives). If you do not know what you are doing, converting an NES into a portable will probably end up costing more than the Game Axe. If this interests you, one of the shops on the Links page should carry it, with the NES cartridge adapter, for about $100.

Now that I've thrown in my two cents, on with the How To!

Mega Joy II connections by Cymoro

The First Player goes to the NOAC, and the controller has the same circuit design as an NES controller.

You can email Cymoro here. Be sure to remove "nospam"

Super Joy 3 (Pirate Famicom) Pinouts by MR.MOD

Mega Joy (Pirate Famicom) Connections by Zenocha

This is easier to use than NiN^_^NiN's Nes-on-a-Chip diagram. Zenocha has traced the pinout for his Mega Joy, one of the various pirate famicons out there that use the Nes-on-a-Chip. Though this pinout might not work with every pirate version, this is a good place to start.

Please note that the NES on a chip for the Super Joy III will NOT use the pinout on your site, and may even fry the NOAC.

You can email Zenocha with questions at zenochaNOSPAM@hotNOSPAMmail.com (remove "NOSPAM").

NES-on-a-Chip How To by NiN^_^NiN

Here are the plans on how to make a portable NES using a NES-on-a-chip found in a tristar/super 8. I have gone over these plans to make sure I didn't make any errors and everything is correct. I have also gotten help from Kevin Horton (http://tripoint.org/kevtris/) with a few address lines i didnt know.

Now Kevin was the guy who put an nes-on-a-chip into a sega nomad so he could play his fav games away from the tv set. I only made this so he doesn't get bugged by people asking him to build 1 or tell someone how to make it.

So if you make 1 of these and have trouble email me first (ninjaNOSPAM@flashNOSPAMmail.com, remove "NOSPAM") and if i can't help you then you can try emailing kevin :)

Now the plans are very simple all you have to do wire the chip exactly as i have show on the link below.

Click here to see "nesonchip.gif

I have also included plans for a reset switch. This really isn't needed, but you need it to save games such as zelda, which require you to reset your machine.

If you have any trouble or any problems email me @ ninjaNOSPAM@flashNOSPAMmail.com (remove "NOSPAM"}

Also i would like to point out that Kevin is creator of making the nes chip run by itself i just made the plans for you guys.
